Travel Updates I: September 2026

Considering the upcoming climbing season for the Manaslu Expedition for Autumn 2026, the Manaslu Rope-fixing team is working on opening the entire route by September 20. Even with the challenging weather conditions right now in the Himalayas, the team is progressing its work up to Camp III (96,800 m/22,310 ft) and preparing to work up to Camp IV (7,400 m/24,278 m).

The rope-fixing team has already begun opening the climbing route and fixing from the Manaslu Base Camp and is done up to Camp III, according to Rishi Ram Bhandari, the General Secretary of Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOAN).

​

Along with the fixed-rope progress, essential supplies like food, equipment, gear, tools, and other important goods have already been transported to Base Camp, completing the climbing route up to Camp III and finishing the fixed ropes up to Camp II, aiming to finish all required fixed ropes by September 20. Bhandari said.

Bhandari also shared his positive feedback on the work as it is progressing up to the planning of the team, though changing weather conditions and poor visibility are creating difficulties, leading to a slow pace of the work at the time.

​

Also, the equipment needed for rope-fixing and route management has already been transported up to Camp II, preparing for other supplies to be sent up to higher camps after the weather improves, as the team is now resting at Base Camp.

​

So, altogether, the Manaslu Route is planned to open until September 2026, allowing expedition teams to execute their climbing for Manaslu Summit.

On Nanga Parbat, three brothers, Ming Temba Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, and Pasang Dukpa Sherpa, have made mountaineering history by reaching the summit of Mount Nanga Parbat (8,126 m/26,660 ft)), the world's ninth-highest mountain, together while working on rope-fixing teams in Pakistan.

Reaching the summit at around 10 AM Pakistan time on June 30, 2026, just after successfully fixing the route to the highest camp below the summit. They were on the rope-fixing team of five members led by Ming Temba Sherpa.

“We all three brothers reached the summit together after successfully finishing the rope-fixing of routes to the top,” said Ming Temba Sherpa.

​

They also have a remarkable mountaineering history on 8000m peaks with different record-holding ascents.

​

 

 

While retrieving the affected trails and roads is actively going on, some of the major routes are still under limited access, and some majorly affected routes are still totally inaccessible.
