The Mt. Lhotse Expedition offers an extraordinary opportunity to climb one of the world's most iconic peaks. Standing at 8,516 meters (27,940 feet), Mt. Lhotse is the fourth-highest mountain on Earth, located in the heart of the Himalayas, just south of Everest. For mountaineers seeking an adventure that blends technical challenges with breathtaking views, Lhotse provides a demanding yet rewarding journey.
This expedition is ideal for seasoned climbers who are well-prepared for high-altitude conditions, technical rock and ice climbing, and extreme weather. While not as frequently attempted as Mount Everest, Lhotse offers a similar route to the summit, passing through the famous South Col, with stunning views of the Everest massif and the Khumbu Icefall. The climb demands both physical endurance and mental toughness, as climbers navigate its steep and rugged terrain, including glaciers, crevasses, and exposed ridgelines.
The journey begins with a scenic trek from Lukla to Base Camp at 5,360 meters, where climbers acclimatize and prepare for the ascent. From Base Camp, climbers follow a series of high camps, progressively gaining altitude while adjusting to the thin air. The summit push is the culmination of weeks of preparation, requiring precise coordination and the utmost attention to safety in the harsh, unpredictable environment.
The Mt. Lhotse Expedition is not just about reaching the summit, but about immersing oneself in the beauty and raw power of the Himalayas, an experience that will forever change the way you view the world.
You’ll arrive in Kathmandu, where the expedition staff will greet you and escort you to your hotel in Thamel. This bustling area is a favorite for trekkers and climbers alike. Enjoy a welcome dinner and meet your climbing team.
