Mt. Amadablam, with a height of 6812m, falls under the category of the most wonderful mountains in Nepal. The name for this mountain comes from two words, “Ama” and “Dablam”. Ama means mother, whereas dablam is the sacred jewelry box that is worn by women from the Sherpa community. One of the amazing things about this mountain is that the glacier, which lies in the southwest part of this mountain, forms an image similar to a jewel box hanging on the neck of the mountain. Hence, the mountain got the name AmaDablam. To be precise, AmaDablam means Mother’s Jewel Box.
It takes around 30 days to complete this expedition. Around 16 days are used to reach the three high camps, which are fixed above the base camp and the peak. There will be trekking through the alluring Khumbu valley below Tengboche in the remaining days. The expedition begins from Kathmandu with a flight to Lukla, following the Everest base camp trail, after which there will be a hike to reach Tengboche.
After we leave the Everest base camp trail from Tengboche, we head for the AmaDablam base camp. The mountain is climbed through the south-west ridge. However, this route is technically difficult and requires going through the hardest and most challenging saddle ridges, rocky ground, and boulders to reach the first camp. Similarly, there will be terrible rocky bowls and edges in the fixed line that goes up to the second base camp. The path to the third camp consists of steep mixed alleyways of rock, ice, and snow; slanting ground filled with snow, precipitous snow, an ice tunnel, and the snow ridge. To reach the summit from the third base camp, one has to go through a steep climb on ice and snow and through a large hanging glacier.
The top of the mountain provides a splendid view of Mt. Everest, the Island Peak, Makalu, the Khumbu Himalayas, and other nearby snow-capped mountains.
While returning from the mountain, the same route is followed till Lukla, and the flight from Kathmandu is taken from Lukla.
The best time to go for this expedition is spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October). Furthermore, the expedition in early winter will be appropriate for you if you want to avoid traffic.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and a short briefing about the Ama Dablam Expedition. Spend the day in Kathmandu preparing for the climb. Attend an official expedition briefing, check equipment, and complete final preparations. Optional sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley (UNESCO heritage sites) is also available.

Spend the day at Base Camp preparing for the climb. Sherpa guides will set up fixed ropes, and climbers will undergo technical training for ascending and descending. This is also an acclimatization day, allowing your body to adjust to higher altitudes. Overnight in tents.
Over the next two weeks, the expedition team gradually establishes three high camps:
From Camp III, a final push to the summit of Ama Dablam (6,812m) involves steep climbing on snow and ice slopes with fixed ropes. The reward is a breathtaking 360° panorama including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Island Peak, and the entire Khumbu Himalaya. After the summit, descend carefully back to Base Camp.
This period also allows for multiple acclimatization rotations between camps, rest days, and waiting for favorable weather.
