Overview

One of the greatest alternatives for you to add to your EBC Trek, Gokyo Lake Trek, or 3 High Passes Trek in the Khumbu area is Chhukung to Island Peak climbing. Himalaya King would assist you in achieving your objective to summit the Island (Imja Peak) and leave your mark on the summit of the 6189 Meters Peak if you are looking to join the group for climbing the Island Peak. One of the top peak-climbing expeditions and the best trek for mountaineering enthusiasts to incorporate with the Everest Base Camp Trek is Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung. The ideal Himalayan hiking and climbing experience is provided by Island Peak Climbing. A day or even less is needed to go to the peak at a height of 6189 meters and descend to the base camp. Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung is a 3-day trip that provides an exciting climbing experience in a comparatively shorter amount of time and on a less expensive scale.

The Island Peak serves as a training ground for more difficult climbs. Trekkers have to negotiate glaciers and moraines and walk in the bitter cold to have an adventurous experience. It is challenging but worthwhile to climb Island Peak from Chhukung. This climb entails climbing up high rocks and ice cliffs while traversing suspension bridges and glacial valleys. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and other mountains, as well as neighboring valleys, may all be seen from Island Peak's highest point. An Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung Trip is the perfect way for any climber, novice or expert, who has been craving the thrill of adventure and wants to embark on adventure climbing trips outside of just trekking on Everest, to achieve their objective.

The itinerary for a 3-day island peak climb starts in Chhukung. A small community called Chhukung is located not far from the island's summit. You will meet your guide and the climbing team from Chhukung, who will inspect all of the gear and apparatus. The team moves toward the Island summit after inspecting all of the equipment. You leave all your stuff in the base camp, you just carry your day pack with packed lunch, water, a camera, and some energy bar or chocolate. It is very important to start early because we need to be on the summit before the afternoon because generally after the afternoon it gets very windy and foggy. The climb from the Base Camp to the high camp is a steep ascend. The rocky steep trails take you to the high camp through a narrow passage. The rocky trails get narrower as you go further. Today, get to bed early since we need to wake up at midnight to start summit preparations.

You will summit Island Peak today, the highest point of the Imja Peak Climbing from Chhukung Itinerary, making it an important day. You leave all of your belongings at base camp and only bring a daypack that has a packed lunch, water, a camera, and some energy bars or chocolate. It is crucial that we start climbing early since we need to reach the peak before it gets too windy and hazy in the late afternoon. The ascent is very steep from Base Camp to High Camp. You enter the high camp through a small opening on the rocky, steep slopes. As you go, the rough pathways get more congested.

After arriving at the High Camp, you should take a little break before continuing on to the glaciers to reach the summit of Island Peak. After roughly three hours of trekking through High Camp, you arrive at Crampon Point, where you set Crampons. Reach IMJA Glacier by walking on a narrow icy track while holding onto the main rope at a height of 5700 meters. Although our guide sets the ropes at the Glacier, the ascent from IMJA Glacier is not particularly challenging. The challenging portion of the journey is the climb up a vertical wall before the peak. As you ascend to the summit, the experienced guides will assist you in being fastened to the rope and harness to ensure your safety.

You will eventually reach the summit of Island Peak after negotiating the challenging slopes with the aid of ropes and guides. Amazing views may be seen from the peak. From the summit, you may explore and savor the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. You will eventually go back to where you were and descend to the Base Camp. You will once more begin the hike back to the lovely Chhukung Valley after arriving at the Island Peak Base Camp. Compared to the ascent, the descent is quicker and easier. Reaching the Chhukung Valley today will mark the conclusion of your Island Peak Climbing from the Chhukung expedition.

FAQs

Island Peak is a moderately challenging trekking peak. The route involves glacier travel, fixed ropes, steep ice/snow sections, and a final headwall. Good fitness and basic mountaineering skills are helpful, but your climbing guide will provide full training.

Not mandatory. Many first-time climbers successfully summit Island Peak. However, trekking experience at high altitude (above 4,000 m) is recommended. Your guide will teach rope use, crampons, harness, and ice axe techniques at Base Camp.

Yes. The 3-day plan is designed for trekkers who are already acclimatized from the Everest Base Camp or Three Passes Trek. Climbers should arrive in Chhukung well-acclimatized.

You need an Island Peak Climbing Permit issued by NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association) and Sagarmatha National Park Entry + Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit. We will arrange all permits.
